The majority of funding for Council programs depends on philanthropic grants and individual contributions from caring people. Please consider becoming a sustaining member of the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Bartholomew County. Examples of What Your Support Can Do

• A $25.00 donation can be used to purchase six (6) training manuals for "Kids on the Block" teen volunteers. Last year, "Kids on the Block" programs on Physical Abuse & Neglect, Sexual Abuse, and Stranger Safety, performed by teen volunteers, reached over 1000 elementary school children and their parents. Scripts on Resisting Peer Pressure, Prejudice / Stereotyping, and Non-Violent Conflict Resolution have also been added. Or to purchase 30 Childproofing Guides to be hand delivered to young parents. The guides cover potentially dangerous situations such as: crib, playpen, high chair, fire hazards, sharp objects, heaters, bath water, and more.
• A $50.00 donation can be used to provide local training for four (4) child care providers or other professionals in the community. In recent years, professional training was provided for Child Protection Services case managers, BCSC school nurses, Home School Partners, Columbus Parks & Rec. staff, and others.
• A $100.00 donation can be used to purchase brochures on Shaken Infant Syndrome for each new Bartholomew County mother. Last year, literature on Shaken Infant Syndrome was provided to each new birth parent (1,500) at Columbus Regional Hospital via nurse home visits.
• A $500 donation can be used to provide in-service training, workshops, and materials for childcare providers and home visit programs, such as Caring Parent's new volunteers or for educational presentations in middle or high school classrooms.

Child Abuse Prevention Council of Bartholomew County is a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization and is a chartered affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana, an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America. CAP Council collaborates with Department of Child Services, Office of Family and Children, Healthy Families of Bartholomew County, Advocates for Children, Step Ahead, and other agencies in Bartholomew County dedicated to helping every child grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.

• Bronze Member: $25
• Silver Member: $50
• Gold Member: $100
• President's Roundtable: $500

Sustaining members may receive newsletters from CAP Council, honorable mention at events and in our annual report. Anonymous donations are also accepted. Just send a check or money order to: CAP Council, P.O. Box 2162, Columbus, IN 47202-2162. Indicate that it is for a membership donation and don't forget to include your name and contact information.

If you donate to the United Way of Bartholomew County through your employer, you can specify that you want your donation to go to CAP Council (or more generally, to programs that serve children.)
